How Morse Code Works
Morse code represents each letter, digit, and punctuation mark as a sequence of dots and dashes (short and long signals). Originally developed for telegraph communication, it can be transmitted as sound, light, or visible symbols, which is why it remains a recognized international distress signal (SOS: ... --- ...) and a popular subject for puzzles and amateur radio.
Common Uses
- Learning Morse code as a hobby or for amateur radio licensing study.
- Decoding Morse code found in puzzles, games, or escape rooms.
- Encoding a short message in Morse code for novelty items like jewelry or art.
